Vista, CA – Dual Language Immersion North County (DLINC) is an award-winning charter school in Vista that is leading the charge to help San Diego County’s parents meet the goals of the California Department of Education (CDE) Global California 2030 Initiative. CDE initiative goals are that half of California students K-12 be proficient in two or more languages by 2030, and 75% of students be proficient in at least two languages by 2040.

DLINC provides students in grades TK-8 an innovative 90:10 instruction model that integrates native English and Spanish speakers in the same classroom. The results of this approach speak for themselves: by 7th and 8th grade, numerous studies have shown that dual immersion students exceed their peers in most academic areas, while the 90:10 model typically produces higher rates of bilingualism.

DLINC Principal Mallory Wirth, who learned Spanish as a second language, says the ability to speak more than one language is foundational to providing students with lifelong learning and a sense of belonging in one’s community

“We are proud to provide our student community with relevant, accessible, rigorous, and results-driven education in both Spanish and English,” said Wirth. Our student body consists of both heritage Spanish speakers and heritage English speakers, and the gap between these two closes a bit each year. This is illustrative of a renewed appreciation and sense of value of bilingualism, and fosters both opportunity and equity for our students  and our entire school community. Families from all over north San Diego County experience fun and fellowship in our classrooms and together in the community, embracing kindness and mutual respect as guiding principles.”

DLINC is now accepting TK-8 student applications for the 2022-23 school year online at: https://www.dlinorthcounty.org/now-enrolling.
