2.     Expanding Worldviews

Dual language learning promotes cross-cultural understanding for all students, expanding their worldviews as they develop into compassionate global citizens. We offer a busy schedule of stimulating and curriculum-driven field trips, including Carlsbad Lagoon, Wild Animal Park, the Natural History Museum and more.

3.     Extracurriculars for Everyone

No matter what your student’s interests, DLINC has an after-school club or program that will resonate. Offerings have included drama, science, chess, gardening, typing. Extracurriculars are added based on student interest and need.  We also offer sports like Cross Country, Basketball and Soccer.

4.     There’s Time to Stretch

We offer PE classes and recess to get learners of all ages to stretch and reset during the school day. Kindergarten classes go outside 3 times each day for morning, lunch and afternoon recess. Elementary grades have PE classes 3 times a week and can go outside for morning recess and lunch. Our middle school students have PE every day. We partner with Camp Pendleton for our popular annual Field Day, which brings students of all ages together to test their physical abilities and enjoy outside activities.

5.     Success at All Grades

Our students spend all of kindergarten and half of first grade becoming confident, accomplished  readers in Spanish. In the second half of first grade, we begin transitioning instruction to English.  By the end of second grade, our students are strong readers in English as well as Spanish. Our middle school is the only dual immersion school in our area that uses a more rigorous model of 50/50 English/Spanish instruction. By 7th and 8th grades, studies have shown the test scores of dual immersion students exceed that of their peers. Our graduates are prepared to be high achievers in high school Spanish courses.

6.     All Learners Can Thrive

We support struggling learners with academic support, including in-school and after-school programs and an after-school math club. Students have peer support buddies that help them when necessary. Regular assessments make sure students are progressing, and we regularly meet with parents to talk about how interventions are working. We also provide services for students with disabilities, including a speech therapist and an  occupational therapist.

Our teachers are committed to partnering with parents for student success, communicating regularly via email, text and phone throughout the school year.

8.     We Celebrate Together

Each year we bring our community together, including parents, caregivers, and community members, to celebrate with annual traditions like Fall Festival, Spirit Week, Snack Shack and more. We rely on volunteers to make these events happen, and they are a great way for us to reunite with graduates and celebrate our community.

9.     Students Come First

Our caring teachers and supportive staff take time to get to know each and every one of our students and their families. We are a small, tight-knit community that prioritizes student success and nurtures all learners, and our caring environment fosters empathetic learners at all grades.
