The Joy of Leisure Reading
Reading isn’t just a school assignment, it’s an open door to imagination, creativity, and lifelong learning.
Research consistently shows that children who read for pleasure build stronger reading comprehension, expand their vocabulary, improve writing skills, and often perform better academically. Just as importantly, reading helps develop empathy, curiosity, and critical thinking as children explore new ideas, cultures, and perspectives through books.
The best part? There isn’t just one “right” book to read. Whether your child enjoys mysteries, graphic novels, fantasy adventures, biographies, science, animals, sports, or books in English or Spanish, reading about topics they genuinely enjoy helps foster a lifelong love of learning.
At DLINC, our school library is here to support every reader. We love helping students discover books that match their interests, reading level, and language preferences. Finding the right book can turn a reluctant reader into an enthusiastic one!
We encourage families to set aside just 15–20 minutes each day for reading at home. Reading together, taking turns reading aloud, or simply giving children time to enjoy a book of their choice can make a meaningful difference.
We are excited for students to stop by the DLINC School Library this year and help them find their next great book!
Happy reading!
