Afterschool Enrichment - Join the Fun!

For busy families who need a little extra child care, or for learners who are looking to explore new interests, Dual Language Immersion North County (DLINC) tuition-free charter school’s new Afterschool Enrichment program is for you!

Extending the School Day

Open to all of our TK-8 grade students for a small fee, Afterschool Enrichment starts right after school until 5:30pm Monday through Friday. Enrollment also includes a Before School Care option which enables caregivers to drop their children off as early as 7:00am.

Teacher Led

The mission of our Afterschool Enrichment Program is to offer a variety of high quality classes and activities that will be healthy, engaging, and meaningful for our students.  This year, we have developed an exciting roster of offerings together with our fully credentialed DLINC teachers, who will be leading classes based on their expertise and interests - passions that they are excited to share with our school community.

So Many Choices!

For each grade level cluster there is a different enrichment class each day, with Fridays designated for indoor/outdoor play.   Time for schoolwork and physical fitness is also offered daily. Classes will be added throughout the year, based on student interest and teacher availability.

TK-2 Enrichment Classes:  Math Games, Handwriting/Spanish, Garden/Science, Art

3- 5 Enrichment Classes: Cursive/Creative Writing, Math Games/Checkers, Art, Science/Cooking

6 - 8 Enrichment Classes: Math Homework Club, Cooking/Science, Chess

A Closer Look

To learn more about DLINC’s Afterschool Enrichment Program, we chatted with two teachers that are currently leading some popular courses.

Claudia Zepeda,  3rd and 4th grade Spanish Language Arts, Science and Social Studies teacher

  • What program are you leading?

I am currently leading the Art Enrichment for the cluster of 2nd-4th grade.

  • What are your plans for the year?

I am planning on doing culture art projects that reflect our community in Southern California but more importantly provide the students of DLINC with well-rounded life experiences that can be seen and appreciated within our school community. Throughout the year we will be doing an assortment of art projects that reflect our learning about other communities. For example, in September and October we will be learning about prominent figures from Hispanic Heritage Month - Selena Quintanilla, Dolores Huerta, and Roberto Clemente, just to name a few!  During the winter months we will be looking at holidays from all over the world, such as Italy’s legend of “La Befana” - a witch that delivers treats to children on the morning of Epiphany. There are so many rich cultures to learn about!

Pablo Velasco, Middle School Science teacher

  • What program are you leading?

I am leading "Wilderness Wednesdays" - a new class that was added this fall.

  • What are your plans for the year?

We are introducing students to a variety of wilderness skills that are fun to engage in, while also instilling confidence and a sense of agency in students’ abilities. Some of the skills include: navigation, orienteering, setting up camp - including how to prep for a campfire with limited supplies.

So far, students have completed a scavenger hunt using only cardinal directions as clues to find their object. Additionally, students have completed the fire-starter challenge (parents be assured that no actual fire was involved!), where students were tasked with foraging viable tinder and then building it in a shape that is conducive for building a fire. Other activities I have planned are: tent building, camp set-up races, scavenger hunts in increasing difficulty (requiring navigation and orientation skills), tracking and more!

Our Afterschool Enrichment program is engaging and inspiring DLINC learners with unique programs every day. Find out more and enroll today!
